The Mission of the Central Arkansas Chapter of the International Association of Administrative Professionals is to provide opportunities for our members to CONNECT, EDUCATE, and GROW as professionals.
Welcome to our new members and our existing Central Arkansas Chapter (CAC).
The induction of the new CAC IAAP officers took place on June 22, 2011. In addition to myself, your newly elected board members are as follows:
President-Elect – Jana Walker, CAP
Vice President – Donna Chapman
Secretary – Sheryl Mullett
Treasurer – Donna Lewis, CAP-OM
Our theme this year is Making the Leap to Remarkable.
First I would like to thank the officers and members of the CAC for the remarkable leap we are about to make.
Webster defines the following terms:
Making – The act or process of forming, causing, doing or coming into being; a person or means of advancement or success.
Leap – An act of leaping; a place leaped over or from; the distance covered by a leap.
Remarkable – Worthy of being or likely to be noticed; as being uncommon or extraordinary.
As we begin the year Making the Leap to Remarkable, I have challenged our officers to do something remarkable in our chapter and to share that with us in our board meetings this year. I would like to extend this same challenge to the rest of the membership and give you an opportunity to share during the regular chapter meetings.
Some of the things that make us remarkable are:
-
Loving what we do- if we don’t have that passion, it’s difficult to face the remaining task at hand and achieve “remarkable” success.
-
Thinking outside the box in this business world, basic ethics, respect, communication and customer services.
-
If we do one good thing each day it will make a huge difference in our lives, communities, homes and workplace.
-
Your name is remarkable and so is your legacy- cherish the good in everyone.
-
Earning people‘s trust, caring about the good you see is being remarkable in my eyes.
In closing, no matter what function we perform, values have everything to do with our jobs. To be successful at work and in our life, we have to conduct ourselves according to our beliefs…we have to Make the Leap to Remarkable without compromising our values and principles or success will be short-lived. So, be remarkable with your choices. Love what you do, think outside the box, do one good thing each day, cherish your name because it will follow you, earn people’s trust, care about others, and see the good in others.
Each one of us may be only one person, but we can make a difference. Making the Leap to Remarkable is a Journey of Life.
Thank you!
Linda Myers
